Do I need to file a confirmation statement if my company is dormant?
Even if your company is dormant you’ll still have to submit your accounts and verify that the information held by Companies House about your business is correct. You’ll be asked to check the name of your company, registered business address, company secretaries, class of shares, SIC codes and people of significant control. If you’re no longer trading or if you no longer need your company to exist, you can have your company removed completely from the public register.

Is that different to an annual return?
Yes, the Confirmation statement replaces the annual return. Although much of the information is the same, the confirmation statement now includes additional details such as persons of significant control.
I'm a sole trader, do I need to submit a confirmation statement?
Nope! Sole traders and ordinary partnerships don’t need to submit a confirmation statement. Limited Companies, community interest companies, unlimited companies and Limited Liability Partnerships are legally required to submit their confirmation statements every 12 months.
